Prayer for Learning to Trust Again

Woman seated at a desk overlooking a mountain lake through a window
A woman pauses at her desk to admire the sunlit lake and mountains outside.

God, I come to You with a heart that has been hurt, guarded, and cautious. You know every wound, every memory, and every moment when trust was broken. You also know how deeply I long to feel safe again — with myself, with others, and with the world around me.

Please guide me gently as I learn to trust once more.

Teach me to listen to my own voice, to honour my instincts, and to believe in the wisdom You’ve placed within me. Help me recognize safe people, steady love, and healthy boundaries. Remind me that I do not need to rush, and that healing grows best when it grows slowly.

Where fear still lingers, bring calm. Where doubt rises, bring clarity. Where my heart feels fragile, bring strength.

Thank You for being the One I can trust completely — the One who never harms, never manipulates, and never abandons. Let Your faithfulness be the foundation I stand on as I rebuild my life with courage and hope.

Walk with me as I take each small step forward.

Hold me steady. Heal me deeply. Restore me fully.

Amen.

Relax - Take a Break

My name is Patricia Young, and I am 72 years old. I am here to share my journey and to help others who have faced the challenging path of domestic abuse. While I may not have experienced much severe physical harm, the emotional and mental scars I carry are profound. Yet, I have discovered a strength and resilience within me that I never knew existed. I want to reach out to women in their later years: you are not alone on this journey. It is absolutely possible to reclaim your strength, recognize your worth, and rise above the pain of abuse. Our past does not define us; we have the power to rewrite our stories and lift each other as we move forward. Together, we can stand strong, support one another, and break the silence surrounding these painful experiences. Remember, our voices matter, and it's never too late to seek help and start anew. You deserve love, respect, and a brighter future.
